| After taking my first two years of college off from music
I joined the band "AppleJack" (named by "Jack" Peterson -
drummer, and original drummer from The Sound Set).
This group was made up of members from my previous bands plus some other
musicians from the local area.
This was my first experience playing in bars. We quickly became a very successful houseband at a local nightclub, drawing a full-house crowd almost every Friday and Saturday night for over two years. I commuted from Michigan State University every weekend to play. We earned only $25 each for the entire weekend, which at the time was enough to covered my gasoline money for the entire week! The above photo was taken in 1975. I'm playing my new Gibson Les Paul Custom, which I still have today. |
